#CardiffTrails
I’ve been sharing my trail runs on Instagram for a while but I always wanted to publish them on their own site.
My typical runs are between three and thirteen miles. I run from home around the hills of North Cardiff.
I do the occasional road run into the city centre but I don’t log these runs.

I wanted to push the distance a bit more today. I only did one hill so the elevation was a bit lower. The forecast wasn’t as good as yesterday but it turned out very nice. There were lots of runners out, families on the Taff Trail and people up the Garth. I felt good all…

I went out for a short lunchtime run to see if the bluebells were still out. Greenmeadow Wood looked amazing. I stopped to take a few photos then headed back to Castell Coch to check out the scaffolding.

This was a rare evening run that I just managed to get in before it got dark. I saw a group of runners heading up the hill towards Castell Coch. I wondered if it was the White Rock Runners, as I know that’s where they do their hill rep sessions. I pootled around the forest,…

I’d been planning this run all week and really wanted to do 15 miles. I set out a bit earlier than normal but I was feeling good and the weather was perfect. I hadn’t really planned a route but I decided in Pentyrch to head down to Tyn y Coed woods and stay around the…

The colourful wrap has been removed from Castell Coch! I went up for a walk this morning and actually saw the removal. I grabbed this photo on my run after waiting for some visitors to move out of frame. There were lots of people enjoying picnics in the grounds.

6 April 2026
It was a gorgeous day so I had to get out and make the most of the bank holiday. I wanted to do 12 miles and I planned a route to perfection. After descending Craig yr Allt I decided to head left and come back on the faster Taff Trail segment.

It was very overcast today so I headed into the woods to try and find a nice shot. I was planning to do a slightly longer run today but I wasn’t feeling great so I didn’t push it.
