Locations – The Garth, Coed y Bedw

Distance – 20 miles

Elevation – 2692 feet

I couldn’t have asked for a better day to attempt another 20 miler. It was cool as I set out, with a bit of frost on the ground, but the temperature warmed up and the sky was beautifully clear.

The first few miles were really tough, I was feeling heavy and sluggish so I went down the Taff Trail before heading back up to the hills. I finally got into a rhythm and the miles passed as I listened to a history of the American Civil War.

I tried some Salt Stick Fastchews as well as some interestingly flavoured energy gels. Pink grapefruit wasn’t great! The Fastchews are supposed to replace electrolytes. They were easy to eat and tasted good.

Today’s route was centred around the Garth. I explored Coed y Bedw and it was as muddy as usual. There were lots of people about and I stopped to chat to a couple of dog walkers. I also passed a fellow Punk who was out on his bike.

The last couple of miles felt hard but I still had some energy to finish with a quick mile.
