Runs

#CardiffTrails

I’ve been sharing my trail runs on Instagram for a while but I always wanted to publish them on their own site.

My typical runs are between three and thirteen miles. I run from home around the hills of North Cardiff.

I do the occasional road run into the city centre but I don’t log these runs.

Another shorter run as I spent ages taking photos in Greenmeadow Wood. The bluebells are coming out so I was trying to get some nice photos. I didn’t get one so here’s the castle instead.

I’m really enjoying getting back into regular running but I don’t want to overdo it. I chose a shorter route today and tried to take it easy.

I had some unexpected free time this afternoon so I laced up and headed for the hills. It was bright but chilly up on Craig yr Allt.

I made some time this morning for another long run with a bit of elevation. It’s still feeling hard but I’m really enjoying getting out. It was dry but a bit cloudy so I took a close up view of the Garth.

Back to the grey and drizzly weather! I attempted a fast, flat 10k on the trails this morning.

It’s been a bit hazy after a few very clear days but it was still beautiful up on the Garth. I was a bit pushed for time today so I wasn’t able to increase the distance but I felt strong and pushed myself on some inclines.

The work on the main path through the sculpture trail appeared to have stopped so I headed that way. The ground has been churned up from the vehicles and machinery. There are still piles of wood chip and loose branches on the verges. I presume this will be cleared up and the accessible path reinstated.…

This isn’t the best photo but I happened to get another shot of a train, which I’ve been doing a lot lately. After my last 10 mile run, which was mainly flat tarmac, I wanted to get some elevation in so I managed both hills today. It was a fair amount of power walking but…

I enjoyed a nice gentle run down the Taff Trail today. I’ve started taking pictures of trains on my runs so I hung around the weir for ages to get this shot.

The forecast was good so I headed out for a longer run this morning. I stuck to the hard trails and not too many hills. This was the view of the Garth from Coed y Gedrys.
