Locations – Coed y Bedw, The Garth
Distance – 20 miles
Elevation – 3768 feet

Today’s run didn’t start well when an eyelet broke as I laced up my shoes. I fudged a quick fix as I wanted to wear the Agility Peak 5s for this distance.
Compared to all the other trail shoes I’ve bought, these have been the worst for durability. The upper is coming away from the midsole on one shoe and there are holes in upper too. This is annoying as they’re also my favourite shoe.
Things started well, I took it easy for the first few miles and felt good. I had enough gels and podcasts queued up for the hours ahead. I stopped on the Garth to tighten my laces and realised there were several other eyelets that looked like they might break too! I had visions of walking back home.
They held up but I developed a pain on the top of my foot, which persisted for the rest of the run. By mile 17 I could feel my legs tightening but I powered through and managed to finish strongly.
I’ve done three 20 mile runs this month and I’m getting used to the “time on feet”. I’m fuelling properly and feeling fine when I get home.
Now I’m off to try and find a pair of cheap Peak 5s…
