It’s supposed to be cooling after another hot one yesterday. It was still warm at 9am and the River Taff is really low.

It didn’t feel too hot today but I really felt it. I drank way more water than normal. I stayed in the shade for most of the run and saw about 7 sausage dogs!

I’ve had another break after more niggles so I took it easy with my biking buddy today. We made it to the Forest Cafe and enjoyed a snack. There were loads of dogs enjoying their treats and drinks of water.

I saw a post from First Light Coffee about a group run this morning from the shop. I wanted to get out while it was cool so I popped along. The guys from Grateful Mile set up a loop from the coffee shop, through the village and back along the river. After this, they’re running…

Resisting the temptation to bomb it up the Garth, I ventured out in the rain for a slow plod around Fforest Ganol. I walked the steep bits and took it easy for a nice, if soggy, 10k. This tree, on the descent from Castell Coch, has been blocking the path for a while.

After a few weeks off resting, going on holiday and a mild illness, I’m back on the trails. I was feeling good back in May. I was planning my first trail marathon, had a good Pentyrch Hill Race and was looking forward to some sunny runs. Then some knee pain developed out of the blue…
