Locations – The Garth, Gwaelod-y-Garth

Distance – 7 miles

Elevation – 972 feet

Sunrise looking down the Taff Valley in Cardiff.

I don’t like to lie in bed dozing so after waking up at 5:30 this morning I got up and planned an early run.

After some coffee and toast I decided to head up the Garth and see if I could catch a nice sunrise. I didn’t leave until 7am so the picture above was taken as I walked up the path behind the Gwaelod-y-Garth Inn.

I could see the full sun as I continued up the road but after I got higher the sun was behind some dark cloud.

I bumped into a couple of guys sat enjoying the view with a flask of tea and another lady at the trig doing the same.

I wanted to run further but after doing two group runs in the week I decided to take it easy. I finished by popping into First Light for a quick chat and a macchiato.
