I was thinking about this run last night and really not looking forward to it. The forecast was good, I was feeling fine and I had plenty of time so I started to worry if I was losing my motivation to run.
I contemplated just going out at 6:30 and getting it over with, but I know this time of day doesn’t agree with me. I had a coffee and some toast, did some stretching, downloaded some podcasts and set off about 8:30.
The beautiful view above is the Garth from Coed Y Gedrys. By this time I was feeling much better and really enjoying the run.
I bumped into a couple of Punks on top of the Garth and stopped for a quick chat. They were doing some long runs too.
After about 8 miles, I felt a slight twinge in my leg which worried me a bit but didn’t turn into anything. I took a few of my new High 5 gels and they continue to go down well.
I did 13 miles in a decent time and wondered if I’d gone out too quickly but I still felt good at 18 miles. I finished with a few loops close to home and my legs suddenly turned to stone. The last mile or so wasn’t fun!
If I’m going to try and go a bit further perhaps I need to set my pace a bit better.
