With a bank holiday weekend here in the UK, I wanted to get a couple of longer runs in. We’re having a heatwave in Cardiff so I headed out early and stayed in the shade. There were loads of people on the Taff Trail but Craig yr Allt was as quiet as usual. The trails…

The weather wasn’t as nice as the photo would suggest but it was great to be out. The views on the hills were quite grey so I didn’t stop to take any more shots. This is the longest I’ve run for ages and it felt OK.

It was a gorgeous day so I had to get out and make the most of the bank holiday. I wanted to do 12 miles and I planned a route to perfection. After descending Craig yr Allt I decided to head left and come back on the faster Taff Trail segment.

I had some unexpected free time this afternoon so I laced up and headed for the hills. It was bright but chilly up on Craig yr Allt.

I made some time this morning for another long run with a bit of elevation. It’s still feeling hard but I’m really enjoying getting out. It was dry but a bit cloudy so I took a close up view of the Garth.

This isn’t the best photo but I happened to get another shot of a train, which I’ve been doing a lot lately. After my last 10 mile run, which was mainly flat tarmac, I wanted to get some elevation in so I managed both hills today. It was a fair amount of power walking but…

Another clear day meant another trek up the hills to enjoy the views. I knew Craig yr Allt would still be muddy but I love the peace and quiet. I only passed one walker. After a couple weeks back to regular running, I’m feeling a bit stronger. I’m still taking it easy and walking lots…

It was great to get back up on the hills after such a long break. It was a bit slippery on the descent after all this rain. I took it easy and walked a fair bit. I’ve lost some fitness over the last few months and it’s tough finding the motivation.

As the heatwave continues, I headed out early again and enjoyed a relatively cool run. I stayed in the shade of Fforest Fawr and the Taff Trail for most of the run. The forest was very busy with dog walkers getting out before it warms up. I made a detour to check out the views…

I had no plans for today’s run other than to get out and stretch my legs. I ended up running through Gwaelod-y-Garth to take some photos for an upcoming project. I carried on towards Coed y Gedrys then turned back and headed over to Craig yr Allt. The sky started off grey but gradually brightened…
