Locations – Garth Woods, Fforest Fawr
Distance – 10.25 miles
Elevation – 1215 feet

I’ve been taking it easy after feeling a few niggles last week so I set out for a gentle run while the rain had stopped.
I went up to Pentyrch and ran along the road on the side of the Garth. This was a good two miles of tarmac where my new Challenger ATR 6s really shone.
Then I decided to drop down through the woods where my shoes would face more of a challenge.
I’m always really careful in Garth Woods, there are tree roots everywhere so each step is a potential twisted ankle! I took it steady and they were fine.
If I was a faster runner on technical trails, I’d definitely want a lower and more responsive shoe.
After leaving the woods, it was another mile or so on tarmac until I reached the Taff Trail and climbed up into Fforest Fawr.
