I had no plan where to run this morning, or for how long, but I had water and some sweets so North Cardiff was my oyster. I had a bumble around Forest Farm then headed over to Pentyrch and up to the quarry viewpoint. It was really overcast so I headed back down and grabbed…

I joined a group of friends for a rare evening excursion up the Garth. We enjoyed a balmy evening on the hills and passed loads of people out doing the same. It was an easy and chatty run, catching up on news and welcoming a new runner.

Back out again while the sun was shining. I’m trying to ease back into it so I did a shorter route and took it easy. I’ve started walking more through Garth Woods. This is partly to avoid injury but it also lets me lift my head up and appreciate the forest.

A quick blast up the Garth to round off the week. It was a bit more overcast today but still muggy. I love the view towards Cardiff from up on the hills. I don’t tend to run in the city centre these days but I did fancy the idea of running from the Bay up…

We’re having some more hot days here in Wales so I slapped on some sun cream and headed out for a few post-work miles to clear my head. You get this great view up the valley as you come down from the quarry. There’s a massive tree blocking the path that I can’t believe hasn’t…

It was a lovely morning for another long run. I added another 2 miles to finally reach 20 miles. I felt good for the whole route and finished strong. I normally include the Garth and Craig yr Allt on these runs but I mixed it up today. I went on a twisty run down the…

Tonight was a gorgeous sunset run around the Garth with old friends. We met in Pentyrch and enjoyed a beautiful evening bumbling across fields, finding some mud and even managed some hill repeats! This was the view from the trig point before heading back down to the village.

It was hot and sticky when I left today. The thunder and rain came in about a mile from home! Today’s random woodland photo is somewhere in Pentyrch on the way to the quarry viewing platform. I could hear some distance thunder while I enjoyed the view. I nipped through Taff’s Well and paid a…

The conditions were a bit grim but this was another fantastic hill race! The marshalling and support along the course was amazing. The final section of the route was changed this year but it was clearly marked. There was a great turnout from the CDF Runners, Running Punks and loads of other clubs.

I had a fixed time to get out this morning so I headed up through Pentyrch on a route I was fairly sure would fit into the time allowed. I didn’t have time to get up to the top of the Garth so I ran along the side, enjoying this view down the valley towards…
