I’m struggling to bed in the new Peregrine 14s so I thought I’d do some flat miles to see how they felt. The Glamorganshire Canal is great for flat trails so I headed down towards Radyr where you can cross the river and come back up to the train station. This little winding segment is…

I squeezed in a quick run this morning down by the canal and Forest Farm. I tried to keep my heart rate low and take it easy. Luckily the rain didn’t come down and I got back fairly dry.

I went out a bit earlier and did six miles around Forest Farm before meeting up with the Running Punks for their Tuesday Trail Social. Another big group enjoyed some relaxed, chatty miles through Forest Farm and along the Glamorganshire Canal. I’ve never done these segments at night and the higher path above the canal…

I was hoping to get some long runs in over the Christmas break but the whole family have been suffering from all the bugs that are going around. I was lucky to escape the worst of it but still didn’t feel up to running. My eldest wanted to get out today so we went down…

Early run for me! No coffee so felt tired, heavy and slow. The Glamorganshire Canal was bustling this morning. I went down the old railway track again and back up through Whitchurch and across Coryton.

Today’s run was a flat mix of tarmac and trails. I took a slightly different route and ran down the old railway line towards the Hollybush Estate. I need to get in the habit of running more regularly. These shorter midweek runs help me get away from the desk but I can find excuses too…

1 February 2024
I’ve been a bit under the weather over the last couple of weeks but the sunny forecast tempted me back out onto the trails. I started with a gentle 5 miles around the canal then back over to Morganstown. As I get older, I’m starting to really appreciate being outside in the light. There’s lots…

Short run down the canal today at an easy pace. I’m not very good at slowing down and just enjoying the run on flatter routes. It’s not because I’m trying to beat a time or look good on Strava. I have a medium pace that feels comfortable but I know this is more effort than…
