29 February 2024
Back to group runs with CDF Runners’ Thursday Night Trails in Fforest Fawr. It stayed mostly dry and quite mild so perfect conditions for some evening trail running. I’ve missed a few weeks so it was nice to catch up with everyone and chat about plans for the year ahead. I ran there and back…

I wasn’t planning a run today but I decided to pop out after finishing work. I got back and noticed loads of medals on the Strava activity. I didn’t think much of it until I noticed, “3rd Fastest Mile”! I put some effort in tonight but I knew I hadn’t done that. Looking at the…

I don’t tend to run early in the morning but I had a very lazy weekend and wanted to kickstart the week by getting out for some fresh air. I went up into Fforest Fawr and ran past all the timber that’s been removed. Natural Resources Wales are using horse logging to remove infected larch…

Another Thursday Night Trail session with the CDF Runners tonight. These routes are close to me so I’ve been incorporating a pre and post run to get some miles in. I made my way up to Fforest Ganol to get this shot across the fields while there was still some colour in the sky. I…

I was hoping to enjoy some blue skies this morning but it was overcast and grey. I still enjoyed the purple and yellow heather on the climb up Craig yr Allt. Today’s view is the Garth taken from half way up. There were a few walkers on the summit enjoying a rest, snack and the…

It was a quick run before work today so I stayed local and headed up through Fforest Ganol to Cwm Nofydd. Fforest Ganol and Cwm Nofydd are part of the “Cardiff Beech Woods”. These are of the most westerly naturally-occurring Beech Woods in Britain. The area is protected because of its importance for nature conservation.…

After recovering from a recent niggle, I’m trying to get out more regularly as well as build up my distance again. This evening was a local route up through the forest, enjoying the cool shade of the trees. There were quite a few people up at Castell Coch, taking pictures and relaxing on the grass.…

I love seeing other runners when I’m out and about. I could see a group ahead of me as I walked up the path from Castell Coch. I spotted a familiar face at the front of the group. I blurted out “Cardiff Dave!” as I approached him and wished everyone a good run. (That’s what…
